Capacitive sender modification
While the standard fuel level sender for RV's is a Stewart Warner unit, we can install for you a capacitive sending unit. As this type of sender is actually built in to the framework of the tank itself, it must be installed during the constriction of the tank. We will install this modification in your tanks for $25 plus the cost of the kit itself from Van's (approx. $50).
The Capacitive sending unit has both plusses and minuses. In a nutshell, you will spend an approximate 500 additional dollars on the fuel gauge instruments. Some of the more modern fuel monitoring systems work more reliably with the capacitive senders, so verify your application with your vendor. Also to your advantage, there are no moving parts, and in theory, far less chance of failure. The single greatest advantage in our minds, is doing away with the penetration for the Stewart Warner sending unit (a notorious location for leaks!).
Please note: The capacitive sending unit is for use with a capacitive type fuel gauge only, and is incompatible with the Stewart Warner type gauge. Please check your application before ordering.
